Mother’s Day Is a Great Time for Making, or Recalling, Memories

Flowers and cards are nice. But one way to truly make this Mother’s Day special is by spending time with your mom recalling memories that you’ve made together. Here are a few ways you can share those memories, while making new ones.

  • Put together videos, scrapbooks or a digital photo frame using photos from throughout her and your life together. Include photos from yearbooks, graduations, weddings, birthdays, vacations, milestone moments for children or grandchildren, and other special or memorable moments.
  • Take her to her favorite restaurant, or better yet, get in the kitchen and make her favorite meal with her using a recipe from a favorite restaurant or family cookbook. These types of experiences can bring back warm memories from the past.
  • Rent an RV for a few days and take a little trip if her health allows it. Visit national parks, nearby mountain ranges, or countryside escapes that she may not visit without your help. Don’t forget to come prepared with car games, like 20 questions.
  • If she can’t go on a trip, try taking her on a picnic lunch in the park, to a botanical garden, to the zoo, museum, or other local attraction. Stick to places that can accommodate seniors with golf carts or rides around the property. Wheelchair accessibility is always a plus.

On behalf of the staff and administration at Pickering Mother, we would like to wish you a happy and memorable Mother’s Day this year. For more information about Mother’s Day programming, events, and our living options, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team today!
