Skilled Nursing For Those Requiring Long Term Care
If your loved one is struggling or unsafe at home or can no longer remain in their assisted living community, he or she may require a higher level of care. Pickering Manor offers a safe and comprehensive long-term option for those requiring 24-hour nursing care.
Our newly renovated Skilled Nursing neighborhood is small and intimate, with a total of 32 beds. This allows us to truly deliver personalized care to every resident. We have 4 private rooms and 14 semi-private rooms, each of which has its own bathroom.
All of our 32 beds are both Medicare and Medicaid certified.
Experienced and Compassionate Care Providers
Our nurses are experts in their field, and they care deeply about the residents with whom they work. They strive to make every day your loved one’s best day here at Pickering Manor.
The Skilled Nursing team is comprised of RNs, LPNs, and CNAs who are trained to provide services such as wound care, IV insertion, catheterization, and tube feeding care. Our staff members are also leaders in dementia care and are dementia certified.
Skilled Nursing residents have access to all of Pickering Manor’s rehabilitation and therapy services, including all three disciplines: physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Our nursing staff also implements a comprehensive restorative care program that is tracked and customized for each individual based on their specific needs.
In addition to the licensed professionals who are on-duty around the clock, residents are also seen in-house by their physician and specialists as needed. Specialists include ENT, Podiatry, Psychology, Psychiatry, and Dentistry, among others. Diagnostic testing such as labs and X-rays are also conducted in house, and pharmacy services are available.
When needed, hospice and palliative (comfort) care services are available to our Skilled Nursing residents. Respite care is also offered for those who need a break from caregiving, or perhaps have a planned vacation. We can keep an eye on your loved one and provide proper care while you recharge.
Personalized Dining and Recreational Activities
Our newly renovated Skilled Nursing neighborhood feels like home. Residents have access to our beautiful indoor atrium as well as an outside deck and patio. Amenities like a hair salon, spa, and reflection room are all located on the same level. For safety, a security system is in place at all entrances and exits.
Our dining experience is customized to our residents’ unique needs. We can accommodate diets and preferences. We record consumption and maintain calorie intake records for all meals. A nutritionist is also available for consultation.
Our life-enrichment team provides a full slate of activities for residents. These include intergenerational programs, pet therapy, crafts, cooking, games, trips, entertainment, and much more. Each resident, no matter their functional level, will surely find something to love, enjoy, and look forward to. We also have a very active resident council that meets monthly to discuss and voice their opinions – we value the input and feedback we receive.
