To all the Wonderful Ladies and Staff at Pickering Manor: Thank you for all the wonderful care you gave to Pat during her stay in December and for the many kindnesses you extended to both of us. Best wishes for 2017.

As you might already know, my mother passed away late last night.
I wanted to thank you and all of the members of the staff at Pickering Manor Home for
the loving care that you provided to Millie.

We love our cottage on Pickering grounds. This place is so near the heart of Newtown and the atmosphere is friendly and informal. Our cottage’s modest size is just perfect for us. The unique location makes us a part of the life of the local community. We don’t feel like we’re living on an isolated campus.

We always thought of Pickering Manor as perfect. Perfect for us but most importantly perfect for our mother.
Your warmth and love always make us feel peaceful about Mom’s passing.
Thank you for the heartfelt card and messages.
We plan to visit you and the residents often.

We want to thank you for making the last year of our Mother’s life filled with kindness and love. To every one of you, who stopped to hold her hand or throw a kiss. You are all such special people, and we deeply appreciate all you have done for us.

I wanted to share our experience about the wonderful staff at Pickering Manor. My mom was there for 2 weeks following an acute care facility for a broken hip. At every touch point in my mom’s care, we were so pleased with the professionalism and kindness of the staff. From past experiences at other facilities, the care of my mom and of us as a family was heads and shoulders above what we’ve had in the past. Entrusting your loved one is hard – I was made to feel very comfortable in our choice of Pickering Manor. Thank you all!!!

My sisters and I would like to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for the wonderful family my father had at Pickering.
You provided him with the most gracious and tender care. We grew to love everyone there and especially the other residents.
You must know what an important and spiritual job you are performing. Please don’t think of it as ‘work’, you bring comfort to the residents and ease the minds of the family.
We miss our dad and our time at Pickering, but we are warmed and comforted by memories.

I came to Pickering with health issues and stayed for 6-8 months. It was the best thing that ever happened to me. Everyone embraced me as if I was family. After I got better a cottage opened up and I moved here in 2003.
If someone was to ask what are three things that you like best about living at Pickering Manor I would say: the good size of the cottages, the friendliness of the staff and the fact that residents here always look neat and well kept. But, what I love the most is the fact that Michelle, the Executive Director is always available. I know that I know I can pick up the phone and call her if I need anything.

We only had to take one tour of Pickering Manor and we knew Mom would be well taken care of. We loved the smallness of this retirement community because it allows for tailored services and stronger relationships between residents and care-givers.
My Mom loves being here, especially she enjoys sitting in the front porch, like she used to spend many summer days on her own front porch years ago! And, I love the fact that I can sleep easy at night knowing that my Mom is in safe and caring environment.

In 2003 we visited six different places and decided to rent an apartment at Pickering Manor. We liked the concept of independent living. We’re covered for a lifetime if we want, without any restrictions.
There is such a strong feeling of community here. Everyone watches out for one another. The best thing for us is that we have a comfortable home in Newtown – near our grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also, we love the fact that we can continue to stay involved in our synagogue.

My mother came to Pickering Manor a year ago and in that time she blossomed. The activities, attention to detail from the nurses and caregivers, and excellent food has kept her happy and healthy.
She receives love as well. That is the most important ingredient.
Recently we celebrated my mother’s 100th birthday. Twenty-eight relatives and friends attended. They were quite impressed with the facilities and the party food.
Andrew provided a beautiful and tasty spread for the party guests… many of whom wanted the recipes! My cousin, who is in the meat business was impressed with the tenderloin.
My mother loved it at Pickering Manor from the first day. Right now my mother remembers names and faces and blows kisses. Yet, I know there will come a day when her Alzheimer’s Disease will rob me from her memory. When that time comes I know your staff will not only support my mother but assist me as well.
Thank you for all you and your staff does for those who are unable to care for themselves.

Words cannot adequately express the depth of our gratitude for the genuine loving care you provided for our Mom, and the caring loving environment that you all worked so hard to create. From the carefully made labels in clothes, fresh and clean, to the shiny floors and clean facilities, to help dressing, navigation and feeding when necessary, to the vanilla ice cream at every meal, to the music and activities that kept her engaged— EVERY ONE OF YOU contributed greatly to her quality of life.
Families are there for birthdays and holidays and ‘whenever we can’ but CNA’s and Nurses and physical therapists and social work are there always.
Together you all provide the care that we as families cannot provide, but at Pickering you become part of the family.
Being 100 is a very hard job, and in a hundred different ways you helped her with that every day. She understood, and appreciated that, and so do we.
To all of you, and to each of you, thank you for a gift that we could never adequately repay.
The Perini Family
Needless to say, we were thrilled to bring Mom home on Friday. However, on behalf of our entire family… we thank you, one and all!
As you know, we were quite taken aback on day one. As we tried to explain, we had no experience with the situation we were faced with and we were led to have a different expectation of the rehab experience. Being ultra-protective, we were a bit uncomfortable initially with the reality. However, with the thoughtful explanations and wisdom of Meri and David, who so kindly let us vent, day 2 began a much better journey for all involved.
You made our Mom feel like ‘the Queen that she is’. She is a remarkable woman at any age… and for the first time, she also was experiencing a situation that was beyond her control and much different from her day-to-day existence!
Bottom line is this… once we all calmed down and began to gain a better understanding of the ebb and flow of the daily routine, we truly began to see how this experience could make a huge difference in Mom’s recovery… which it did!
So this note is both an apology- and a thank you! An apology because we rushed to judgement- and a huge thank you for the tenderness, kindness and guidance you all displayed, both professionally and personally… not only to Mom, but to our entire family! You are an amazing group of individuals who together create an awesome team… and we truly want to thank each one of you for your daily contributions to the well being and healing of all of us!
PS. Mom has made it up the 21 steps with relative “ease” and has not looked back since.

I was in rehab at Pickering Manor, Newtown, PA from Dec. 15, 2016 through Feb. 3, 2017, following hospitalization for pelvic fracture, and a 4 day stay in another facility. I cannot say enough about Pickering Manor! Everyone there met my highest expectations! All of the staff (Nurses, Therapists, Aides) were professional and caring. Since I was recovering from a serious fracture, I especially appreciated the dedication of the staff therapists, both physical and occupational. Their knowledge, encouragement, and care were excellent! Same for the nursing staff.
I was there for rehab, but also observed residents, many of whom were seriously ill, in Skilled Nursing Unit. I was impressed by the quality and compassion of care they received. I also observed residents with dementia. These residents can often be challenging. I never saw any of these residents treated with anything but the utmost patience, compassion – and kindness! It truly made a great impression on me.
On yet another note: when one is a resident of a facility, the quality of food is so important. I, and the other residents at my table, always looked forward eagerly to our meals! They were varied, nutritious and delicious! Hats off to the Pickering chefs! Thanks for the lovely meals and delicious desserts.
I was discharged in great shape. Thank you, each and every one. A special shout out to my physical and occupational therapists, Michelle, Rocico, Trupti and Lynn. I would highly recommend Pickering Manor for Rehab, Skilled Nursing and Personal Care.

Thank you so much for your wonderful care of our Mother, Anna Williams. We will forever be grateful to you all!
When we were searching for the right place for Mom to live (it took us a year+), we finally picked Pickering. We had heard positive things from other people. Little did we know how loving and caring your entire staff would be. We have been so please!
Mom was a special lady—unlike any other, and her uniqueness was appreciated by all of you. You treated her like family and made her feel valued.
There have been so many instances in which you have shown her kindness, patience, caring and respect. You allowed her to preserve her dignity till the end.
We always felt confident that she was receiving the best medical care and in a timely fashion. We also appreciated that you listened to our thoughts and concerns regarding her care and were willing to act on them if appropriate.
There are too many of you to mention by name. Just know how grateful we are to all of you. Keep up your good work. There surely is a real need for it.
My husband, son and I thank you with all our hearts.
