Personal Care Skilled Nursing Events & Community
Pickering Manor, Newtown's premier center for senior living, was opened in 1963 through the generosity of H. Russell Pickering who bequeathed his residence and a sum of money for the creation of a                facility to serve the older citizens of Newtown and vicinity.

This unique non-profit facility is located in historic Newtown in beautiful Bucks County, and is owned and operated by the Community Welfare Council of Newtown. Even after extensive growth, it still continues to be funded solely by revenues from its residents & contributions from individuals, businesses and organizations throughout the community.

We have independent living in the form of apartments and cottages.
We offer personal care services in our 22 bed facility and have 47 licensed Skilled Nursing beds. The most appropriate would be determined by our resident's level of care.

Pickering Manor takes pride in its ability to provide a comfortable and
friendly atmosphere throughout its full spectrum of care which ranges from Independent Living to highly Skilled Nursing. Admissions are not limited to Newtown residents and all persons without regard to age, color, gender,
disability, national origin, race or religious creed are welcome.

Testimonial

I will always be grateful to Pickering Manor for the professional and loving care it provided my mother while she was a resident there. Prior to her residency in the Pickering Apartments for four years, she lived in Florida, but she had set her sites on Pickering Apartments as her future home. It was the perfect choice for her, located in a beautiful residential neighborhood, where she enjoyed daily walks. As her memory began to slip the Pickering Manor was very accommodating to her needs, working with me to ensure her independence as long as safely possible. Then after a hospitalization, she moved into the skilled nursing unit, where she lived for three years. Her dementia had worsened, but the staff did an outstanding job of dealing with her situation. The level of care was professional yet always personal and caring. Because of the Manor’s small size in comparison to other facilities, it can provide more intimate care and closer communication with family. The door is always “open” to discuss a loved one’s needs. They are the next best thing to family. Jeanne C.
